I'm glad that you tell what equipment you are using....because I have very similar lenses. But don't use them very much for birds in flight. Now I know I can......thank you for the lesson Asbed. L/F
Asbed Iskedjian replied:
Thank you Stuart, at that time, winter 2013, one day photographing the Great Gray Owl, they where also 2other photographers, one with a Nikon Nikkor 300mm lens with multiplier, one other with Canon 100-400mm, and me with my little Tamron portrait lens 17-50mm, when the Great Gray owl took its flight I took pictures, the one with the 3 Nikkor 300mm + multiplier also took in-flight shots, not the one with canon 100-400. **** In the in-flight shot of the Nikon Nikkor 300mm + multiplier there was only the head, because he was very close, the photographer with the Canon 100-400 lens told me " You are better equipped than us because with your 17-50mm you have more field angle when it is in-flight". **** Yes with a little portrait lens when can do bird in-flight photos but as you know the subject has to be closer.
